Medicare Basics
Medicare is very complex, and it’s important to have a strong, fundamental understanding of the basics in order to make timely Medicare decisions and choose options that best meet your needs. This information session at the Oyster Bay Library, at 7 p.m., provides an overview of Medicare, briefly touches on the different parts of Medicare and services covered under each, discusses Medicare eligibility rules and explains important Medicare enrollment periods. St. John’s of Lattingtown Annual Country Fair will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss the sale on the lawn, children’s fashion show, live music, carnival games and more. Fair opens on Saturday at 9 a.m. with a special preview admission price of $25. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., adults $10 and children $5. Fair is open noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Open House At Brookville Multifaith Campus
The second annual open house will begin at 10 a.m. with special guest: Rev. Doug Leonard, director of the Al Amana Peace Centre in the country of Oman. From 11 a.m. to noon, experience one of the faith communities first-hand by: attending the Christian Worship Celebration, a Quran study or a lesson on Judaism. Presentation of Historic British Palaces
As part of the Art League of Long Island’s 2015 lecture series, on Sept. 20 at 2 p.m. poet and writer Victoria Crosby will give a PowerPoint presentation on the Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) in London, with a brief introduction of the history of the Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) in the USA. A World Peace Prayer For Humanity
Sikhs are celebrating the United Nations International day of Peace with a peace prayer for humanity. The community is invited to come to Mata Sahib Kaur Sikh Temple at noon; the prayer will be followed by a meal. An Interfaith celebration began in 2004 in Glen Cove Sikh temple where 23 faith religious priests prayed for world peace. In 2008, it became a world peace prayer and now more than 70 countries are taking part in it at Sikh Gurdwaras in the world. People of all faiths and cultures are invited to attend. The Sikh temple is opposite the Glen Cove Golf Course on Lattingtown Road.

Restaurant and Wine Tasting
The Glen Cove Hospital Auxiliary and Glen Cove Hospital are jointly sponsoring a restaurant and wine tasting. The event will be held at the Glen Cove Mansion from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost $40 per ticket. This will be the hospital’s sixth tasting and the hospital’s first major event since 2013. Come and enjoy a wonderful evening, share the delicious food and wine, take a chance on the beautiful raffle baskets and support the hospital at the same time. ‘Functional Medicine’ Breakfast
From 8:15 to 9:30 a.m., the Life Enrichment Center Presents: “Functional Medicine—A New Approach for Real People,” a presentation by Dr. Robert Romanelli. All are welcome to attend this informative breakfast which will launch the center’s new Professional Advisory Committee. Business friends and corporate partners are invited to join the committee for the purpose of building relationships and assembling a professional resource guide of senior service providers. Functional Medicine is personalized, precision medicine as opposed to the same treatment for all. Romanelli graduated with honors from New York Chiropractic College in 1983 and holds a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, the American Clinical Board of Nutrition and Functional Medicine. He has a private practice in Oyster Bay.

Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club is asking all residents to clean out your closet for a cause. GBBGC’s Annual Clothing Sale will be taking place this fall, Oct. 2 to 8. Intake is now through Sept. 19. Drop-off hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon. This year, clothing drop-off is on Elm Street, at the far end of the club field, across from the Locust Valley train station. A tent is set up to accommodate all donations.
