Movie At The Library

See Love & Mercy at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. In the 1960s, Beach Boys leader Brian Wilson struggles with emerging psychosis as he attempts to craft his avant-garde pop masterpiece. Art Reception

Light Over Water: Oyster Bay Harbor Scenes, the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s fall exhibition, features the work of Kirk Larsen, whose paintings, watercolors and drawings capture the boats, baymen, and yachts on the waters of Oyster Bay Harbor. The exhibition opens with a reception in the Historical Society’s Angela Koenig Center at 20 Summit St. in Oyster Bay from 6 to 8 p.m. and remains on view through Dec. 23. The reception is free and open to the public. The sale of art exhibited during Light Over Water helps support the society’s Beverly Mohlenhoff Fund, dedicated to the collections and activities of the Angela Koenig Center. Midsummer Nights Dream Cruise

Spend Friday nights at Ransom Beach, 11 Bayville Ave. in Bayville, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Spectators are free, or the cost is $5 to show a car. Atlantic Steamer Celebration

The Atlantic Steamer Fire Company No. 1 is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a parade and party. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. at Firemen’s Field, led by the Atlantic Steamer Fire Company with a band, color guard, the company’s firefighters and equipment. Other fire departments will follow as one body, with one antique fire truck from each department following. The parade floats will finish the parade. Judging will take place in the parking lot by local elected officials and emceed by John Canning. The party will last until 11 p.m.

Hatchery’s Fall Festival

The Hatchery’s Fall Festival takes place Sat. Sept. 26, rain date Sat. Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Environmental exhibitions, food, refreshments, games, fishing for kids under 12, with all gear provided. Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium, 1660 Rte. 25A. Concerts by the Pond

Concerts by the Pond at St. John’s Church, Cold Spring Harbor, will host a recital by 12-year-old pianist Maxim Lando, on, at 3 p.m. Lando is an Artemisia Akademie Fellow at Yale University and a Lang Lang International Foundation Young Scholar. He has performed as guest artist on the critically acclaimed Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players series for the last seven years and has appeared in concert halls in Spain, Italy, Germany, England, Kazakhstan, Canada, Armenia and throughout the United States. He has been featured in recitals at Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall and this season will present the American premiere of James Cohn’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra with the Queens Symphony Orchestra. At Oyster Bay- East Norwich Library, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dr. Elizabette Cohen is a practicing veterinarian on Long Island. She has been on WCBS 880 News Radio since 2004. Her “Healthy and Happy Pet” reports are heard several times a day every Saturday and Sunday. She is also the author of the book Most of My Patients Wear Fur: Tales of Small Animals and Their Big City Vet. Blood Drive

The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 3 to 9 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church Oyster Bay, 60 East Main St., Oyster Bay. The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to help their communities prepare for emergencies by giving blood during National Preparedness Month this September. Introduction to Computers Part 1
