Grace International Assembly Of God Church on Willis Avenue recently held a special groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate their new sanctuary. Grace’s Pastor Wilson Jose hosted a picnic lunch following the ceremony.
The church was built in 1899, as indicated by the cornerstone on the south side. An extension was added in 2007.
In attendance were Mayor Scott Strauss of Mineola and Rich Nicolello, the deputy presiding officer of the Nassau County Legislature. The Reverend Chester Easton of First Presbyterian Church of Mineola also attended, as did the families of Grace International.
The new sanctuary, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2015, will include a basement and first floor that will total a combined space of 8,400 square-feet. Anyone interested in contributing to the church’s building project can send a tax-exempt donation to Grace International Assembly Of God, 172 Willis Ave. Mineola, NY 11501.
