Weight Loss Strategies

Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club’s annual clothing sale will be taking place this fall, Oct. 2 to 8.

Midsummer Nights Dream Cruise

Nitromania Junior

Youngsters will be able to bounce around, slide down, and climb up the attractions that will be provided. Fun is guaranteed. Nitromania will be held at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Boys & Girls Club clubhouse from 6 to 10 p.m. Club members in Minis through second grade can experience Nitromania from 6 to 8 p.m. and club members in grades third through 10th, will have from 8 through 10 p.m. to participate in the event. Pumpkin Decorating

Get into the Halloween mood by decorating your own pumpkin at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 10 to 11 a.m. Just bring yourself—the library will supply everything else. For kids of all ages, with an adult. Registration began on Sept. 12 for OB-EN residents and begins on Oct. 2 for non-residents, space permitting. Register in the children’s room or by calling 516-922-1212.

Blessing of the Animals

In honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, St. Dominic Church will celebrate the annual Blessing of the Animals at 1 p.m. The event will be held in the chapel parking lot between the rear of the chapel and the rectory. The entrance to the chapel parking lot is off Weeks Avenue in Oyster Bay. All animals are welcome. In the event of rain, the Blessing of the Animals will take place under the awning at the side entrance to the chapel. All are welcome to join the blessing with your pets.

Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning

Estate planning isn’t just for the rich and famous. Proper handling of income and assets can be critical in preserving wealth and government benefits. This seminar provides a practical overview of common estate planning techniques applicable to a variety of income brackets and family situations. Topics include wills, trusts, taxes and long-term care planning. Every Tuesday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m., head to the Bayville Free Library to sit, knit and chit-chat with the ladies who knit. Knit or crochet your own item or one to be donated. New members always welcome.

The American Hot Rod

Collector Car Showcase (CCS), the only museum/showcase devoted to automotive memorabilia, Petroliana, and vintage cars in the metropolitan New York area, has an exhibit, The American Hot Rod, on display through Oct. 31 at the 18,000-square-foot facility at 85 Pine Hollow Rd. The Petroliana museum, as car aficionados liken it, is open to the public daily from Tuesday through Saturday. It will feature a number of award-winning hot rods that have captivated audiences nationwide and are on loan to Collector Car Showcase for this special and rare exhibit. The Interfaith Community

Food Pantry

The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays 11 a.m. to noon. If you are in need of their services at other times, please call Pastor Diane at 516-922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.
