The Girls Varsity Swim Team began their 2015 season with a league meet vs. Massapequa on Wednesday night, Sept. 9. The meet opened up in an exciting fashion with Manhasset posting a 1-2 finish in the 200 Medley Relay. The girls swam a great meet, recording many mid-season type of times in the first dual meet. In the meet’s sixth event, 100yd Butterfly, Manhasset junior Megan Smith qualified for the New York State Championships. This is the first time in team history that a swimmer qualified for states in the first meet.
On Saturday Sept. 12, the Indians competed at the Nassau County Relay Carnival, held at Eisenhower Aquatic Center. For the second consecutive season, Manhasset took first place out of 17 Nassau County teams who participated at the Relay Carnival. The girls followed up the Relay Carnival effort with victories against Conference opponents Jericho and Great Neck South to improve their team record to 3-0.

Senior Kylie Mulholland swam a 2:01.28 in the 200yd Freestyle. Grace Kenlon swam a 57.55 in the 100yd Freestyle. Julia Henry swam a 2:08.47 in the 200yd Freestyle. Allegra Sodi swam a 1:13.62 in the 100yd Breaststroke. Meredith Johnson swam a 1:04.71 in the 100yd Backstroke. Delaney Flynn swam a 27.50 in the 50yd Freestyle. Kaitlin Baranello swam a 28.38 in the 50yd Freestyle. Grace Amato swam a 1:13.08 in the 100yd Backstroke. Michelle Sciarrino scored 141.76 points in 1m diving. Julie Alonso swam a 1:15.53 in the 100yd Backstroke.
Junior Megan Smith swam a 2:16.40 in the 200yd IM. Maddy Kang swam a 57.74 in the 100yd Freestyle. Olivia Garvey swam a 1:06.95 in the 100yd Backstroke. Maggie Brogan swam a 2:24.59 in the 200yd Free. Amanda Lennon swam a 1:16.89 in the 100yd Butterfly. Ashley Fanning swam a 1:09.89 in the 100yd Freestyle.
Sophomore Claire McNeary swam a 2:15.81 in the 200yd IM. Garrity Kuester swam a 1:12.82 in the 100yd Breaststroke. Michaela DePhillips swam a 1:06.64 in the 100yd Butterfly. Rose Marie Donnell swam a 1:00.56 in the 100yd Freestyle. Vanessa Zhang swam a 27.33 in the 50 yd Freestyle. Ariana Terenzi swam a 30.05 in the 50 yd Freestyle. Maddie Cecchini scored 210.23 points in 1 m diving.
Ninth grader Francesca Antonopoulos swam a 1:15.44 in the 100yd Breaststroke. Lara McCusker swam a 2:17.97 in the 200yd Freestyle.
