National Merit Scholarship Commendations

Forty-four seniors in the Great Neck Public Schools have been named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP). To achieve this honor, these students placed among the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million juniors who took the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Each Commended Student received a letter of commendation in recognition of exceptional academic promise. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.

“The young men and women named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. They represent a valuable national resource. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success,” said a NMSP spokesperson.

North High’s Commended Students are Danielle Ajodan, Lee Hofman, Rachel Klein, Graelin Mandel, Judith Teboul and Jasmine Wong.
