Election Day is Nov. 3 and the League of Women Voters of Port Washington and Manhasset (LWVPW-M) have scheduled two forums to educate voters about how the candidates stands on issues.
Wednesday, Oct. 14—Local Candidates Forum
With its cosponsor, the Women’s Group of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock (UUCSR), the LWVPW-M will host a Candidates Forum on Wednesday, Oct. 14, for those running for town supervisor; town receiver of taxes; town council districts 2, 4 and 6; and county legislature districts 9, 10 and 11. They will try to convince voters that they are the best choice by delivering a statement and answering audience questions. The same format will be used for each candidate.

Wednesday, Oct. 21—Panel To Address NY State Education Policy
The LWVPW-M has invited five leaders involved in education to address the question: “NYS Education Policy: How and by Whom Is It Set? Are Changes to the Current System Needed?” The panelists will share their knowledge on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Landmark on Main Street at 232 Main St. All are encouraged to attend.
The LWVPW-M believes that focusing on these issues is of tremendous relevance to the public given the significant interest and controversy currently surrounding K-12 education policy in New York State.
The program’s panelists bring to the table vast experience and different viewpoint.

Wednesday, Oct. 28—Nassau County DA Candidates Forum
The League of Women Voters of Nassau County will host the Ca;ndidates Forum for the two candidates running for Nassau County District Attorney—Acting Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas (D) and Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray (R).
