DeRucci USA, a retailer that sells high-end mattresses and bed frames, is preparing to open a store later this year at 1649 Northern Blvd. in Munsey Park.
The store will be the company’s second location in the United States and its first store on Long Island, according to Joyce Tom, manager of DeRucci USA’s first United States store at 969 Third Ave. in Manhattan.
“Our store is a high-end furniture store,” Tom said, adding that the focus will be on the company’s exclusive line of ergonomically-designed mattresses and bed frames.
DeRucci USA is a subsidiary of DeRucci Beddings Company Limited, which was incorporated and established in 2004 in China. DeRucci currently has 2,200 stores worldwide, in China, Hong Kong, Dubai, Australia, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Canada and Egypt, according to its website.
The company’s Manhattan showroom opened last January. Tom declined to project a date for the Munsey Park store’s opening, but said DeRucci hopes to open the new showroom by the end of the year.
DeRucci’s “sleep systems,” as the company terms its bed furniture products, range in price from $2,000 to $10,000, according to Tom. She said DeRucci mattresses are custom designed with different levels of firmness for each model. “We use very high-quality materials,” she said.
Tom said DeRucci USA selected the 15,000 square-foot Munsey Park location because of the area’s upscale demographics.
“All our customers are educated and high-income,” Tom said.
She said a DeRucci store is also being planned for the Queens Center Mall on Queens Boulevard. The Manhattan, Long Island and Queens locations are the first of 20 or 30 stores the company intends to open in the U.S.
The Northern Boulevard location in Munsey Park previously contained a Pearle Vision store and an Ecco store.
Interior renovation of the building that will house the DeRucci showroom is currently underway.
A building permit was issued to Raymond Wang, the contractor retained by DeRucci for the work, in July, according to Munsey Park Deputy Clerk Maureen Mclean.
Internationally-renowned Lamborghini Beddings chose De Rucci as its sole China corporate partner in 2011.
Since forging that partnership, DeRucci has sought to diversify its business and promote its brand name by investing in movie-making and various cultural events in China.
