After recent success in Port Washington, Mexican Grill, Mole Mole tries its luck in Manhasset. Located at 440 Plandome Rd., the former home of Red Mango, it is in the heart of the town. The restaurant is part of a new and growing Mexican food trend that follows the footsteps of such popular restaurants such as Chipotle and Moe’s.
Once inside, patrons are met by an assortment of fresh ingredients which they can pick to create their own masterpieces in the form of burritos, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and salads. The appeal is that each meal is custom to each individual allowing them to satisfy whatever Mexican craving they are having. For example, there are several different kinds of tortillas that vary in both size and type.
Fillings are separated on the menu into hot and cold categories and features different beans, rice, and cheese along with other toppings. The menu even includes a drink selection and a kid’s section which presents smaller portioned meals that come with chips and a soda. It is these clever touches that make the experience fun for the whole family. It also allows picky eaters to be curious and enjoy a taste of spice and flare. Desserts include traditional Mexican delicacies such as flan and churros.

Its central location, just a short walk from the Manhasset train station, should prove to be a very good addition to the town as it adds another lunch and dinner time spot for both students and adults. Customers can either get their meals to stay or eat on the go making it ideal for busy weekdays and evenings where one wants a delicious meal, but is short on time. Meals can be packed up conveniently, keeping the contents both intact and warm. The attire is casual and the atmosphere comfortable and relaxed making it a nice place to meet a group of friends before a night out in the city or at the movies.
The addition of the restaurant marks a living continuing growth of restaurant commerce in both Manhasset and Port Washington. For a long time, options for food became somewhat stagnant, but new restaurants such as Mole Mole appear to be opening all over. As they do, the towns seem to be getting a new, fresh face with options catering to the adventurous and inquisitive. Mole Mole’s doors featuring its orange and green logo are open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Saturday. These flexible hours give town locals and visitors the opportunity to eat an early lunch or late dinner all throughout their busy week.
