Judy Jacobs (D)
Judy Jacobs is the Legislator of the 16th District (incumbent).
Dedicating my life to the people and communities of Nassau County over the past 20 years has been an extraordinary experience. Our communities are safer, healthier and more vibrant than ever before, and I feel privileged to have partaken in the policymaking that has enabled our community to flourish. As a resident of the county for more than 40 years, and a former presiding officer, I am quite used to interacting with community leaders and legislators of all political and cultural backgrounds, and will continue to make this the hallmark of my leadership position.
I have worked as a civic leader for more than 35 years and will utilize the experience I have cultivated to ensure that Nassau County remains one of the best places to live in the United States. As presiding officer, I spearheaded the ban on smoking in restaurants and workplaces, established Nassau’s first all-inclusive human rights bill and brought Nassau, on the verge of bankruptcy, back into the black by reducing borrowing, cutting debt and balancing budgets.
I love what I do and am humbled and honored to have received the support of the community in the past and I’m hopeful I will maintain that support moving forward.
Angel Cepeda (R, C, Reform)
Angel Cepeda is running for Nassau County Legislator 16th Legislative.
“To me, the race to represent Nassau’s 16th Legislative District boils down to two things—energy and capacity. My track record proves that I have both the energy to serve tirelessly and the capacity to help Nassau overcome its financial challenges. In the corporate sector, in public service and as an advisor in the nonprofit world, I have provided companies and organizations with fiscal discipline while helping them establish a firm footing for future growth. I will use these skills to control taxes and promote sustainable growth for our county, its businesses and its residents.
Beyond question, the fact that I am not a career politician is as important as my qualifications and track record. My opponent has held this office for the past 20 years. In that time span not only has partisan politics gotten worse, but our fiscal challenges have become more daunting as well. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is the very definition of insanity. It’s time for someone new.
With your support, I will bring a fresh perspective to meet our present needs, establish a sound plan for our future, while always respecting our taxpayers of today and tomorrow.”
