The Floral Park Woman’s Club will hold their autumn meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 12:30 p.m. at recreation center. The business meeting will follow refreshments. Police Commissioner Stephen McAllister will be the guest speaker. The League of Women Voters of Port Washington-Manhasset present a discussion on the state’s education policy on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater at Landmark on Main Street, 232 Main St., Port Washington. The Floral Park Women’s Club will hold their Fun Nite Out on Friday, Oct. 23, at American Legion Post 334, 15 Elizabeth St. at 7 p.m. “Nite at Belmont” games will be held. Nassau County’s Barkfest will be held at Eisenhower Park on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. Costumed pets parade, admission free for all.
The John Lewis Childs School (JLCS) PTA will be hosting their 29th annual Harvest Fair Hoedown on Saturday, Oct. 24, from noon to 4 p.m. The day will be filled with food, crafts, games, raffles, bake sale and blue ribbon baking contest. To top off all the fun, we will be having a Hoedown Dance where the kids (and adults) will do the “Virginia Reel” and a variety of other western themed dances in the JLCS gymnasium. The Andrew Burrous Best Buddy Foundation will host a showcase of musical talent benefiting the Olive Osmond Hearing Fund on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Plattduetsche Park Restaurant, at 1132 Hempstead Tpke. in Franklin Square. Donations help provide hearing aids to children. Admission includes music, dancing and singing showcase performances and a hot buffet. Raffle baskets and 50/50 chances will be available. At the Bellerose Jewish Center, located at 254-04 Union Tpke., in Floral Park: free Jewish education for kindergarten and Sunday School children. A thorough religious curriculum with experienced teachers for third grade to their bar/bat mitzvah is also provided.
