Plainedge Board of Education president Catherine Flanagan and vice president Raymond Paris were recently honored by the New York State School Boards Association at the district’s Oct. 6 board of education meeting.
Flanagan received the NYSSBA School Board U Board Lifetime Achievement Award for her participation in the NYSSBA Leadership Development program. Symbolic of her commitment to students, this is the highest level of achievement that can be reached in the program. It is earned through the accumulation of points, which are obtained from participation in various developmental activities such as the Board Officers Academy, legal conferences and regional workshops.
Paris was honored with the School Board U Board Excellence Award for his participation in the NYSSBA Leadership Development program.
NYSSBA’s School Board U Recognition program is designed to recognize the extensive time and effort of school board members who strive to continually expand their governance knowledge and skills. Both were honored by the New York State School Boards Association first vice president and Area 11 director Susan Bergtraum with a certificate for their accomplishments.
