Mets fans that can’t make the World Series will get a chance to kickstart the Amazin’s run at their first Major League Baseball championship since 1986 today in Mineola. Nassau County officials and community leadees will be joined by former New York Mets players and fans dressed in Mets attire on the steps of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building on Franklin Avenue at 5 p.m. for a rally on the eve of the 2015 World Series to support the National League Champions.
A ceremonial lighting of the building’s dome will feature the Mets team colors of orange and blue. Fans will be face-painted in Mets colors while cheering for their home team. The New York Mets are returning to the World Series for the first time in 15 years.
Long Island Rail Road officials will discuss special trains that will take fans to and from Citi Field on game days. The World Series begins tomorrow in Kansas City, Mo. at 8:07 p.m. eastern time, and the first game at Citi Field is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30.
