Get ready to run for your life to escape the zombie apocalypse at Brady Park in Massapequa Park to benefit Special Olympics New York. The rUNDEAD is a 5K run, in which runners start off with a flag belt and three flags representing their lifelines. Zombies will be stationed throughout the course attempting to take these one at a time. Once a runner loses all three flags, they are “dead” and the zombies have won. Runners can register in the competitive “Fast Food” group or the non-competitive “All You Can Eat” group. Those who do not wish to run have the option of registering to become a zombie. Register at www.therundead.org/longisland or sign up that day. Each runner and zombie will receive access to the course, race day festivities and an official rUNDEAD race day T-shirt. Race day registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the race starting at 10:30 a.m. For more information, contact Rebecca Strickland at 631-254-1465 ext. 203 or email rstrickland@nyso.org.
