Varsity Field Hockey Coach Steve Sproul was justifiably proud of his team after their tremendous 6-0 victory over New Hyde Park on Thursday, Oct. 8. The scoring began six minutes into the first half when junior Sara Weppler hammered a shot to net to tally the first goal. This was followed by Carina Lewandowski’s goal with 19 minutes remaining in the half. The magic continued as Maggie Duvnjak scored twice and Weppler added a second goal, and Katarina Catallo scored the sixth to finish the game. Goalkeeper Lauren Suga was credited with four saves in the game, giving her a total of 54 saves for this season, so far.

On Tuesday, Oct. 12, Manhasset High Schools Captain and senior Regan Moroney scored the only goal in the game, with an assist by Junior Sara Weppler, against Clarke High School that would secure a playoff spot for the team. Goalie Lauren Suga didn’t give up under pressure saving five shots on net in this intense game. Coach Sproul’s field hockey team worked magically together to keep their opponent under control on this huge Columbus Day win. Manhasset faces North Shore this week.
