Free Lunch, Film Screening and Q&A

Director Matthew Silva’s documentary Modern Ruin: A World’s Fair Pavilion will be shown on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at Bow Tie Great Neck, and will be preceded by lunch at the Gold Coast Arts Center. The film examines how a once iconic symbol of the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, the New York State Pavilion at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, has become an abandoned, neglected relic. The screening is part of the 5th Annual Gold Coast International Film Festival, and the community is welcome to attend as a guest of The Amsterdam at Harborside.
Lunch will be served from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Gold Coast Art Center, 113 Middle Neck Rd., Great Neck, NY 11021, and will be followed by the film screening at 2 p.m. at the Bow Tie Great Neck-Squire Cinema, 115 Middle Neck Rd., Great Neck, NY 11021 and a Q&A with film director Matthew Silva and Joseph Tirella, author of the book Tomorrow-Land: The 1964-65 World’s Fair and the Transformation of America.
