GNS Artwork Selected For Exhibition

imagesGreat Neck South High School senior Brooke Ferber and freshman Sophia Paskov were among the winners of the Annual Nassau County Student Exhibition and Competition by The Art Guild at Elderfields and will exhibit their works of art in the Nassau County High School Student Show.

Submissions from high school students came from both public and private schools throughout Nassau County. More than 50 works of art were selected for the exhibit by Bennett Horowitz, a retired instructor from the High School of Art and Design, NYC.

Horowitz, juror of awards, complimented the students on the level of concentration required to create work at this high level—particularly with the demands of ever-present technology, and told them how difficult it was to judge the show. In addition to his teaching career, Horowitz is an accomplished artist and graphic designer who has exhibited in many museums and galleries.

This student show will continue through Nov. 28 on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., and by appointment, at 200 Port Washington Blvd. in Manhasset. The gallery is free and open to the public.

The winter schedule will begin in January and includes Art Explorations & Creative Art Studio for children and classes in watercolor, drawing, life drawing and more for adults. Registration is open for the Fast, Loose & Bold painting workshop with Patti Mollica on Feb. 13 and 14.

The Art Guild of Port Washington, Inc., is a nonprofit organization providing encouragement, education and a forum for the appreciation of the visual arts. For more information, visit at www.theartguild.org or call 516-304-5797.
