Port Holiday Magic is coming to town on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. on all of Main Street and Port Washington Blvd. from Campus Drive to Main Street. Admission and parking are free.

The event is presented by the Port Washington Business Improvement District (BID), Port Washington Chamber of Commerce and the Residents For A More Beautiful Port Washington. Sponsors of the event are Peter & Jeri Dejana Family Foundation and the Town of North Hempstead.

More than 60 stores and restaurants will offer “shoppertainment,” including holiday treats, in-store entertainment, refreshments, discounts and holiday specials. Outdoor entertainment includes Santa and his elves, carolers from Shining Studios, costumed characters including Olaf, a minion, Ninja Turtle Rafaello, two stages and much more. Shoppers can take a free trolley ride from one end of Main Street to the other, with stops all along the way.

“There are so many great businesses in Port Washington, ranging from those that have been here for generations to those that have opened here in just the past year,” said Bobbie Polay, executive director of the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce. “The Chamber of Commerce urges residents to ‘Try Port First’ to find the perfect gift for just about everyone on your list right in your hometown.”
There will be two stages with entertainment this year—one across from the train station and one at lower Main Street near Ayhan’s Mediterranean Market.

“Port’s merchants support all the organizations and schools in our town. They provide flags at the Memorial Day Parade, holiday decorations and much more,” said Polay. “By shopping in your hometown, you not only support the merchants who support our community, but you save yourself the time and the trouble of going to crowded and unfriendly malls. And if you shop online, zero out of $100 stays in our town; but if you shop locally, $68 out of every $100 stays in our town. It pays to do your holiday shopping in Port, where ‘everyone knows your name.’”

The event is being organized and sponsored by the BID, the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce and the Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington. Contributing major sponsors are the Peter & Jeri Dejana Family Foundation and the Town of North Hempstead. Visit www.portholidaymagic.com or call 516-883-6566 or 516-767-9151 for more information.
