Michael Joseph Ceriello, Sr., 86, of Stony Brook, formerly of Roslyn Heights, passed away peacefully on Nov. 20 at home with his family at his side. Born and raised in Roslyn Heights, he was a 1946 graduate of Roslyn High School and owner (with his brothers) of Ceriello Brothers Service Station on Powerhouse Road in Roslyn Heights. He was a proud Korean War veteran, 55-year-plus volunteer firefighter with Roslyn Highlands H & L, E & H Fire Co., an avid golfer (3 holes-in-one!) and bowler, and he loved the “ponies.” Family was everything to him. He leaves behind his adored wife Joan Rogers Ceriello. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen (nee McCann). He is survived by his children Elizabeth Ceriello, Gail O’Hern and husband William, John and wife Laura and Michael, Jr. and wife Lauren; his stepchildren Fred and husband Edward Bernaski, Lori, and Robert and wife Donna. His most cherished grandchildren who call him “Pop Plop,” Lauren, Tara, Randi, Claire, Christina, Luchia and Aiden; his brothers, Nunzio, who predeceased him, and Carmen who survives him, as do so many nieces and nephews that adored him, his adopted Irish family and the best circle of friends imaginable. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael’s honor to the Nassau County Fire Fighters Burn Center Foundation or The FASNY Firemen’s Home in Hudson, NY. Funeral arrangements entrusted to The Roslyn Heights Funeral Home, www.roslynheightsfh.com
