John H. West Elementary School in the Plainedge School District took part in the 2015 Red Ribbon Week Photo Contest through the National Family Partnership and won the first place prize.
The organization received hundreds of submissions and more than one million votes in support of the contest photos. Ten schools from each region received a grand prize and John H. West was chosen as the winner in its region. The school will receive an iPad and $1,000 to be used towards drug prevention programs for their school.
