detourMotorists are advised that night time travel lane closures of NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue will be in effect Friday, December 18 through Wednesday, December 23, 2015 between Herricks Road and Willis Avenue in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County. Either the eastbound or westbound travel lanes of NY 25B/Hillside Avenue will be closed between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Friday through Monday. In the vicinity of NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue and Willis Avenue, travel lanes will be in effect between midnight and 6:00 a.m. Motorists heading eastbound on NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue will be detoured at Herricks Road to NY Route 25 to Willis Avenue then back to eastbound NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue. Westbound NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue motorists will be detoured to Willis Avenue to NY Route 25 to Herricks Road then back to westbound NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue. On-street parking is not permitted during this construction work. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes or they will experience delays.
These NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue travel lane closures are needed to repave the deteriorated sections of this roadway to fortify it prior to the onset of winter weather and thereby protect the tens of thousands of motorists who utilize NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue each week. Additional night and/or off-peak day time lane closures will be scheduled to install new permanent pavement markings and replace imbedded traffic signal loops.
As with most road work, this operation is weather dependent and may be canceled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather. Drivers are being provided advance notice of the closure via electronic road signs. Emergency service providers and local officials have been notified of these travel lane closures. Motorists unable to use alternate routes are encouraged to obey all traffic rules and flag person instructions and drive cautiously throughout the construction zone for their protection and the safety of the night time work crew.
