Election Rumors In East Hills

It’s only January, but candidates are jockeying for position in this spring’s Village of East Hills Board of Trustee elections. Village officials have told The Roslyn News that East Hills residents Janet Goldenberg and Neil Foster are both considering runs to challenge board incumbents. Goldenberg is a former member of the village’s Architectural Review Board (ARB) and its Airport, Noise and Air Pollution Committee. Foster is a former member of the village’s Board of Appeals.

Efforts by The Roslyn News to reach both residents proved unsuccessful.

If the two run, they will face Deputy Mayor Manny Zuckerman and Trustee Clara Pomerantz. Zuckerman was first elected to the board in 2000. In 2010, he was selected by Mayor Michael R. Koblenz to be deputy mayor. Pomerantz is currently the liasion

Deputy Mayor Manny Zuckerman elected Trustee in 2000. From 1980 to 1990 Manny Zuckerman was the President of the Nob Hill/Lakeville Estates Unified Civic Association. In 1987, he also joined the Security Commission. He was then elected as Chair of the Village’s Security Commission from 1995 to 2000. Manny was also appointed as chair of the Village Planning Board and held that position from 1999 to 2000. In July, 2010, he was selected by Mayor Koblenz as Deputy Mayor. Pomerantz currently runs the village’s annual Environmental Day event.

The board of trustee election will be held on Tuesday, March 15.
