The Manorhaven Action Committee is honored to have Sarah Deonarine, the new Executive Director of Manhasset Bay Protection Committee, be our guest speaker. She will be talking about chemical runoffs in our bay, commercial pollution of our waters and other issues pertaining to our waterfront. A discussion will follow whereby attendees will have a chance to share their concerns. This special event will take place at Port Jewish Center, who volunteered their space, at 20 Manorhaven Blvd., on Wednesday Jan. 27, at 7 p.m.

The Manorhaven Action Committee began September 2015 when a small of group of village residents came together to address quality of life issues affecting the Village of Manorhaven residents. Since then, they have grown in numbers and our voices are being heard. They have opened a direct line of communication to village government. Within a few short months, MAC has had several successful outcomes. Every month, they compile a list of possible code violations from residents and present the list to the Board of Trustees and we follow up on the results. To date, the code enforcer has acted upon all reported violations. MAC has streamlined an easy code list for all residents to follow in both English and Spanish and the Village has approved its distribution. They have submitted a parking proposal that will be presented at a Village public hearing. They are working on bigger issues including sanitation, the environment, zoning and safety issues.
