Get Your Big Break At Gold Coast Arts Center

GCACBigBreak_121615.ACome see local musicians perform for music-industry professionals and win great prizes on four Saturdays this year. On Jan. 30, Feb. 6, March 12 and April 2, join the Gold Coast Arts Center and Love Revolution Org. as they once again search for the next big thing to come out of New York—with a little help from some of their friends in the industry—as the Gold Coast Acoustic Café presents the Fourth Annual Your Big Break Showcase Series at the Gold Coast Arts Center.

The schedule of performers, which is listed below, represents those selected from the call for submissions. The contest was open to musicians ages 15 to 25, who do not currently have a recording or publishing contract, to submit for the showcase events. Interested artists will perform with a band or solo with an acoustic guitar or sing to a backing music track.

GCACBigBreak_121615.BPrizes include all the things needed to get started on a musical journey, such as the chance to open for national acts at major venues like The Emporium, whose manager Neil Rubenstein will be a judge; recording time at IndiMusic Studios and online TV streaming opportunities on IndiMusic TV with Judge Chris Pati; a feature at Reverbnation.com from Judge Lou Plaia; a PR and social media campaign including management, booking and label services consultation with Rick Eberle Agency; musical equipment from All Music Inc., Judge Guy Brogna and ZOOM North America; and more.

Aspiring musicians can come to the show and network with some of the hottest people in the music business. Plus, the audience also has a vote in determining this year’s winner.

For the second year in a row, mentors will be assigned to the finalists. The mentors will work with the artists to help them hone their craft before performing at the finals.

Past winners Youth Be Told, Katie Zimmer and Annika, and finalists SEE and Zofolk have gone on to work with major producers, managers and agents. Other past performers include Iridesense, John Hampson of Nine Days, The Brady Brothers, Sir Cadian Rhythm—all local musicians who have had some success in the business.

For each performance, doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the first act will perform starting at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for students and $15 for adults; refreshments will be available for purchase. Gold Coast Arts Center is located at 113 Middle Neck Rd., Great Neck, NY 11021; 516-829-2570. For more information, contact gnacbigbreak@gmail.com or visit www.goldcoastarts.org/yourbigbreak.
