The Port Washington Chamber of Commerce invites you to come in from the cold and enjoy a warm and tasty lunch at the 9th Annual SOUPer Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 6, from noon to 3 p.m. at a new location, the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church on Fairway Drive, near the Harbor Links Golf Course, just off West Shore Road.
Sixteen wonderful local restaurants and markets will be donating their best soups for the contest and hope to be voted Port Washington’s 2016 SOUPer Bowl Champ. Visitors pay a small admission fee and are given a hand stamp and a ballot. The hand stamp allows them to sample two ounces of each of the soups donated by the restaurants. The restaurants also provide bread and crackers for the tasters. After trying all the soups, everyone gets to vote for their favorites. When the ballots are tallied, the 2016 SOUPer Bowl Champ is determined. The winner will receive the “People’s Choice Award.”
There will also be a select judges’ panel, including local celebrities and gourmets. The winner, as determined by a vote of the panel, is given the prestigious “Judges’ Choice Award.”
Participants include Ayhan’s Mediterranean Market, Ayhan’s Shish Kebab, Bosphorus Café Grill, Finn MacCool’s, f.i.s.h. on Main, Frank’s Pizza, Gino’s Pizzeria, Harbor Q, O’Hara’s Ale House & Grill, Organico, Port Thai Place, Port Washington Diner, Rosso Uptown, Sullivan’s Quay, Toscanini, Wild Honey and Yummy Gyro. The soups range from hearty beef barley and minestrone to the more exotic Louisiana crawfish crab corn chowder and Jamaican sweet potato.
