Day care and nursery school M.A.T.S.S. in Syosset celebrated Pajama Day, an annual donation drive in conjunction with the larger Pajama Program organization. The children not only wear their pajamas, but also bring a brand new pair to give to children in need. The Long Island Chapter of the Pajama Program comes to pick up the donated clothes, which then go immediately to children in need all over Long Island. Legislator Judy Jacobs, who attends the event every year, also brought along new pairs of pajamas.
“It was so touching to see these youngsters understand that there are children who do not have what they have and it was even more moving to see they had the generosity and the empathy to volunteer and help,” she said. “What a wonderful lesson in life for them to learn at such a young age.” —Tribune Staff
