Shining Studios, a Long Island-based theatre organization, brings Disney and Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins to life on stage on Friday, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Landmark on Main Street.
The cast is comprised of 22 aspiring actors and actresses ranging in ages from 9 to 12 from Port Washington, Great Neck and the surrounding Gold Coast towns.
Mary Poppins follows the practically perfect nanny as she teaches the Banks family how to value each other.
“The story of Mary Poppins is one that has always been tremendously special to me. Its music, magic and mystique captivated my heart from a very young age and Shining Studios is so excited to bring it to the Port community,” said Shining Studios Founder and Director Kyle Savage. “We would like to extend a special thank you to our cosponsors, Carrie and Dave Kerpen of Likeable Media, who have allowed our production to be in spit-spot shape.”
Shining Studios is a Long Island-based theatre school that offers students the chance to perform community theatre and provides performance education to students of all ages. Offering a wide variety of classes, private instruction and consultations, and several community theatre productions a year, the mission of Shining Studios is to provide aspiring students and performers with instruction in theatre, music and dance, empowering them to develop their craft, express themselves creatively and grow as artists.
Shining Studios also offers an outreach program in which teaching artists and directors bring customized arts education programs to local schools and organizations.
