Volunteers Package Thousands Of Meals

Last week, hundreds of Temple Sinai of Roslyn congregants came together to assist Stop Hunger Now, by pouring nutritious, dehydrated, high protein ingredients into bags that were then weighed, sealed and packed 36 to a box. The meals are comprised of rice, soy vegetables, flavoring and essential vitamins and minerals. Each package provides a reasonable serving for six and is easy to transport, store and distribute to crisis-burdened areas around the world. During the productive evening, Temple Sinai members packaged 10,000 meals.

Stop Hunger Now has been fulfilling its mission to end hunger across the globe for fifteen years. The organization has packaged and distributed more than 100,000,000 meals to 65 countries.

Temple Sinai’s commitment to social action and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), is a value that pervades congregational life. On April 10, Temple Sinai will join with Temple Beth Sholom of Roslyn for their annual Mitzvah Day, which offers a broad range of charitable activities.

Temple Sinai of Roslyn is at 425 Roslyn Rd. For more information, contact Ethel Liebeskind at 516-621-6800 or visit the website at www.mysinai.org.
