The funeral for Monsignor Thomas J. Hartman will occur at St. Aidan’s Church in East Williston on Saturday, Feb. 20. Hartman died Tuesday, Feb. 16, from complication of Parkinson’s disease. He was 69 years old.
As a highly regarded man of the cloth, one half of the famed God Squad and Department Chaplain to the Nassau County Police Department, the enormous outpouring of love and grief will cause roads to be closed nearby the church. The Catholic priest teamed up with Rabbi Marc Gellman and together they brought their interfaith message to television and radio audiences for a quarter century. The popular show had a wide audience. At its peak, the show reached 15 million homes per week nationwide.
The funeral mass at 10 a.m. is expected to draw a significant crowd. Please be advised to use alternate routes through the area.
