A male bicyclist was fatally hit by a car while he was crossing a road in Freeport over the weekend.
Nassau County police said an 88-year-old man was driving a Lincoln MKZ eastbound on Sunrise Highway when he struck the victim near the corner of Benson Place at 8:12 p.m. Saturday.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His identity was not immediately available.
Homicide Squad detectives are continuing their investigation into the crash, which was deemed not to be criminal. The driver was not charged.
