Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced the first ever “Race Week Kick-Off Run” prior to the 2016 RXR Long Island Marathon Weekend. For this special event, the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums have worked closely with RXR Long Island Marathon Weekend production staff to come up with an all new 5K Course that finishes at the official RXR Long Island Marathon Weekend finish line in Eisenhower Park. The all new 5K race will take place on Sunday, April 24, 2016.
Registrants of the 2016 RXR Long Island Marathon Weekend Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K Race are invited to take part in this all new event for FREE! You must be registered for the 2016 Marathon, Half Marathon or 10K Race before registering for the Race-week Kick-Off Run. Pre-registration for Kick-Off Run is required for complimentary race entry. Advanced registration is required and is available until April 18, 2016.
A finish line festival awaits Kick-Off Run finishers and offers a mini-preview of what RXR Long Island Marathon Weekend will have to offer.

What better way to start race week than with a Race-Week Kick-Off Run at Eisenhower Park! Take part in this all new, exciting 5K race brought to you by the same people who produce Long Island’s premiere competitive running event. A good warm-up run one week before the big day and a great way to get pumped up for the big finish by getting a taste of the Eisenhower Park Finish line.
The 2016 RXR Long Island Marathon Weekend begins with the Sports & Fitness Expo on Friday, April 29th. All of the Long Island Marathon Weekend events take place in the area of Eisenhower Park in East Meadow and the Mitchel Athletic Complex, located next door in Uniondale.
On Saturday, April 30th, 1 Milers, and 5K runners will start on Charles Lindbergh Blvd and finish on the 1998 Goodwill Games world-record-setting track inside the Mitchel Athletic Complex.
On Sunday, May 1st, Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K Participants star together on Charles Lindbergh Blvd. behind the famed Nassau Coliseum and finish together inside Eisenhower Park before spending the afternoon partying at the Finish Line Festival featuring live music and refreshments.
