Fifth-graders from East Lake Elementary School got down to business at Commerce Plaza in Levittown. They participated in a unique, hands-o
n educational program that introduces students to the business community in a simulated work environment.
Students learned about the free enterprise system, careers, economics, citizenship and the general skills needed to function in the workforce. Students received paychecks, made bank deposits, wrote checks, operated businesses and prepared cost sheets while thinking critically and working as a team. All fifth-graders in the district visit Commerce Plaza during the school year.
