The 5th annual 2015 Gold Coast International Film Festival brought a glamorous week of events, screenings and filmmaker Q&As to venues throughout the North Shore. Many award-winning actors and directors were in attendance and more than 60 films were featured at screenings and events throughout the Town of North Hempstead at the Gold Coast Arts Center, Bow Tie Cinemas in Great Neck, Manhasset and Roslyn, Soundview Cinemas in Port Washington and the campus of LIU Post.
The winners of the Gold Coast International Film Festival 2015 are as follows: Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature, Mustang; Audience Award for Best Documentary, Mind/Game: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique Holdsclaw and We Are Twisted F*cking Sister; Audience Award for Best Short Film, Grounded; Jury Award for Best Short Film, Subway Love and Tender Stories No. 1; Jury Award for Best Student Short Film, The Present.
This year, the Gold Coast Arts Center offered free tickets to all screenings for veterans and current military personnel courtesy of 1-800-Flowers.com and had a sold-out Family Film Day. The center showcased the best in young filmmakers for the first time with their Young Filmmakers Program. Filmmakers and attendees were also able to take part in a special “NY Loves Film” round-table discussion with the NY State Film Office.
