Thank you doesn’t seem to be an appreciative enough expression to extend gratitude for a wedding. How do a bride and groom “thank” their families, friends and everyone involved in the most special day of their life?
Wedding favors of the past have evolved from matches and drink stirrers to wine and cupcakes. While many couples opt for a donation to their favorite charity instead of spending money on a trinket, others do like to send their guests home with a little something special.
What to choose
Family owned and operated, Fairy Tale Affairs in Massapequa Park has been in the wedding business for the past 16 years. A double showroom on Merrick Road offers everything from invitations, decorations, rentals, and of course, favors.
“We carry a wide array of favors,” said Tracey of Fairy Tale Affairs.“Some of our options include functional favors, edible favors, candles, frames, personalized items, apparel and bar accessories.”
While many favors can be used year round, some couples prefer to choose a favor that is not only practical, but fits the theme of their wedding. Popular spring and summer favors include anything beach or garden themed like potted plants with seeds, wine stoppers, soap, fans, flip flop bottle openers, honey or jam.
Make it personal
To be unique, be sure to put a personal touch to your favor. Labels bearing your wedding date, a monogram of your new initials or a thank you note is a simple way to add some love. Make sure you pick the right packaging if you are repackaging the favor yourself. Visit your local craft store for cardboard boxes, Chinese food boxes, mason jars and ribbon to tie it all together. Relating the gift to your wedding theme, color palette or who you are as a couple will make it all that more special.
A sweet donation
“For our couples who wish to donate, we provide a scroll with the charity information and a note of thanks,” said Tracey. “We roll it up and add confetti, almonds in a flower or tulle with chocolate as a thank you.”
Fairy Tale Affairs is located at 4851 Merrick Rd., Massapequa Park. Call 516-541-1000 or visit www.fairytaleaffairs.com.
