The 60-person County Cavan Rugby Club Male Voice Choir will perform at the Landmark on Wednesday, March 16.
The concert is sponsored by Connie and Geraldine O’Reilly of Finn MacCool’s, who have committed a portion of the proceeds in support of the Port Washington Community Chest.
Located at Cavan Rugby Club, the choir was formed in 2009. Starting small, this local Irish group quickly grew, attracting men from towns throughout County Cavan.
In 2010, they had 30 members and in 2015 expanded to a membership of more than 60. The choir president, a driving force behind the development of the choir, is Tom Farrell. The chairman is Sean McKiernan and musical director is AnnNoelle Bennett.
Through their passion for singing they have assisted schools, community centers, sports clubs and charities with fundraising. The choir has performed on local and national stages, including the Heineken Cup matches in the Aviva Stadium, RDS, Raven Hill Belfast and the Sports Ground Galway as well as other sporting events.
Last year, they hosted an up-and-coming musical sensation—The Willis Clan, a family of amazing musicians and dancers. Living near Nashville, TN, they merge their Irish roots with other music and dance genres to create a unique blend of the old and new.
Now they are coming to New York for just a few appearances, including the Landmark concert and the St. Patrick’s Day parade, thus proudly continuing a strong cultural and family tie between New York and Cavan.
The evening at the Landmark will feature well-known Master of Ceremonies Tony Jackson. Jackson has appeared with the Daniel O’Donnell Show at Carnegie Hall, the New York Town Hall Salute to Dublin’s Millennium with Paddy Reilly & Brendan Grace, at Long Island’s Miss Irish America Pageant, New Brunswick Irish Festival with Irish Tradewinds Show Band, St. Patrick’s Day Parade Announcer in Garden City and hosted his own Irish Country Radio Show for more than 30 years.
Tickets are available in advance for $40 at www.finnscavanchoir concert.com. Tickets at the door are $50. The Landmark is located at
