The Greater Westbury Council for the Arts has some artist opportunities with an upcoming art exhibit in conjunction with Hicks Nurseries on April 21-23. The art exhibit will afford artists exposure to hundreds of visitors at Hicks and will be supported by promotion through the Greater Westbury Council for the Arts and other social media.
The Council is looking for 2D and 3D submissions to participate in the popup gallery on Thursday, April 21 from 7 to 10 p.m. through April 23 from 4 to 9 p.m. Artwork will not be available for sale at this event but artists are encouraged to provide contact and promotional material which will be displayed alongside their artwork.The call is open to local artists to submit work that incorporates themes related to Earth Day (flowers, nature, botany, etc). Artists working in natural materials are also invited to submit their work for consideration. Please visit www.hicksnurseries.com to learn more about the venue and subject matter.
Original works in 2D and 3D in any medium no larger than 36” x 48,” except for video and installation art, can be accommodated. You may submit up to four pieces for consideration. Send digital images of proposed artwork via email, as attachment, to Alex@westburyarts.org.
The email must include the artist’s name, location, contact information, medium and dimensions of proposed artwork. All accepted artwork must be delivered to Hicks Nurseries on Thursday April 21 by 2 p.m., ready to hang or display.
If your work is accepted, you will be notified by email no later than April 10. Due to the tight schedule, you will only be notified if you are accepted. Entries without contact information cannot be considered.
The Arts Council is also looking for artists/crafters for workshops and demonstrations. The call is open to local artists and crafters to teach or demonstrate their unique art techniques either as a workshop or as a demonstration. Workshop themes should be related to flowers, nature, botany, etc. or other natural materials. Artists interested in doing a live demonstration should bring their own supplies. Artists doing a workshop will be reimbursed an agreed amount of expenses by the arts council.
