Family Fun At Landmark On Main Street

Landmark on Main Street is partnering with Cynthia Litman’s MomTime Events for the spring season of family programming at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater.

First up is the Eric Carle multi-event extravaganza on Sunday, March 20, featuring The Mermaid Theater of Nova Scotia’s beautiful black light and puppet production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and three other Eric Carle Favorites.Catepillar031616

Adapted, designed and directed by Jim Morrow, with music by Steven Naylor and narration by Gordon Pinsent, is an hour-long production that features the imaginative approach to storytelling through theatre that has earned international recognition for Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia. The performance is well-suited for younger audiences at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. Sponsored by Phyllis & Harry Manko and Cullen & Danowski.

Be the Change VIP (very important lil’ peeps) Indoor Garden Party takes place between shows in the Landmark Gym. This is MomTime Events inspired take on Eric Carle’s transformational theme and caterpillar experience. Kids will visit Transformation Stations hosted by DanceWorks NY, Dvora’s SoulShine Studios, GAALS and Lord & Taylor, and will be busy with crafts, activities, fashion, shopping and face painting. Light brunch options, sweets and beverages will be provided.

The show tickets are adults $25, kids $18 (Friends $3 less), MomTime Events VIP Party $10 per child (under age 1 free).

Two more family events at the Landmark Kids:

Are You My Mother? on Saturday, April 9, at 2 p.m. This show brings to life P.D. Eastman’s whimsical and well-loved picture book with music and live action. Sponsored by Sandy & Stephan Garber and Joan & George Nahas. Tickets are $18 for all seats (Friends $3 less).

Peter and the Wolf on Saturday, May 7, at 3 p.m. Pushcart Players puts its trademark spin on a beloved Russian folk tale. Classical music by Prokofiev, storytelling, puppetry and the ageless adventure of growing up comprise this masterpiece. A different instrument and melody (or “leitmotif”) represents each character of the play, creating an excellent link to understanding all types of music.

Tickets are $18 for all seats (Friends $3 less).

The Landmark Kids Series is sponsored by PM Pediatrics. Tickets can be ordered online at www.landmark
onmainatreet.org or at the box office at 516-767-6444.
