March Recess
Massapequa Public Schools and Plainedge Public Schools will be closed March 24 and 25.

Spring Blood Drive
The Massapequa Bar Harbour Library at 40 Harbor Lane will be having its winter blood drive from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Walk ins are welcome but you can register by calling the reference department at 516-798-4607 ext. 6304.

Adopt-A-Battalion Soldier’s Drive
Come help put care packages together for troops overseas. Looking for personal care items, seasonings and hot sauces and items other than candy. From 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Island Knight of Columbus Council, 2 Eastgate Rd., Massapequa Park.

Live Music at Sunset Grill
Come to Sunset Grill in Seaford at 9:15 p.m. and listen to the live band, Against The Grain. Fee is $5.

Both library buildings are closed for Easter Sunday.

Monday, March 28
Carnival Volunteers Needed
Volunteer applications for Plainedge School District students in grades five and up are still available in the children’s department for the library’s Spring Into Reading Carnival scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Carnival volunteer spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Completed applications will be due by Monday, March 28. All spots may be filled before March 28. For more information, contact the Children’s Department at 516-735-4133 ext. 12 or 13 or email kids@

Teen Takeover Mondays
Every Monday from 3:30 to 5 p.m., teens get to take over the auditorium. Enjoy open play with video games on Wii U and XBOX 360, play Minecraft, check out the collection of board games and hang out with friends every Monday in the Bar Harbour auditorium. Movie: Bridge of Spies
The Bar Harbour auditorium will show a 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. screening of the Academy Award nominated movie, Bridge of Spies. A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, Bridge of Spies tells the story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Starring Tom Hanks, Mark Rylance and Alan Alda. (2015; PG-13 2 hrs 20 mins).
