The Rotary Club of Great Neck learned about the fantastic things happening at Hadassah Hospital in Israel during its March 23 meeting when Great Neck resident Roz Meyerson spoke.
“Stem cell clinical trials on animals are underway and human trials are not far behind,” said Meyerson, fundraising vice president and cochair of the 2016 Hadassah Nassau Stem Cell Walk-a-Thon (www.
hadassah.org/events/nassauwalks).
Progress has been made by the scientists and researchers at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem for Alzheimer’s, ALS, macular degeneration and several other life-altering diseases, according to Meyerson.
“This research is being shared with the world,” continued Meyerson, who pointed out that clinical trials led by Professor Meir Liebergall, head of orthopedics, have shown that stem cells can cut the healing rate of broken bones to one quarter the usual recovery rate.
The Rotary Club of Great Neck invites residents and businesspeople to visit its meetings for social and business networking.
