The artistic talent of 29 students from the Massapequa School District was on display at the Art Supervisors Association’s (ASA) 12th annual Nassau All-County Art Exhibition. The free event took place at Farmingdale State College and honored more than 1,200 students from kindergarten through 12th grade who have demonstrated excellence in a wide variety of two-dimensional visual art forms including drawing, painting, printmaking, computer graphics and photography.
The ASA, in its efforts to nurture young artists, also presented Massapequa High School senior Olivia Abele and nearly 50 other graduating seniors with a scholarship during a special scholarship awards ceremony preceding the exhibit. The Massapequa students featured in the exhibit were: Birch Lane students Caroline Arent, Michael Maron and Julia Bongiorno; East Lake students Olivia Cristadoro, Ally LoPresti and Kate Giordano; Fairfield students Kristin Foller and Jordan Super; McKenna students Hayley Tan, Julia Fregoe and Gabriella LaSpisa; Unqua students Alexis Devaney, Jillian Sampson and Alexis Amante; Ames students Daniel Kasin, Katlyn Lizzio, Kayla McGowan, Brianna Mollica, Jillian Dunn and John Colletti and Massapequa High School students Abele, Alexandra Turco, Mattia Socci, Mia LoCastro, Sabrina Montella, Caitlyn McCreedy, Colleen Turano, Kyra LaSpina and Christian Weissenberger.
“We are very proud to have Massapequa students represented in this countywide exhibit,” said Beth Adler, Massapequa’s coordinating chairperson for art, K-12. “This event provides the opportunity for the community to appreciate the dynamic work that is produced by a fundamental, innovative, and vibrant K-12 sequential visual arts education.”
