New Democratic Leader To Speak For ROA

The personification of a community activist, John Ryan, the newly elected leader of the Democratic Party of the Town of North Hempstead, will be the guest speaker at the Reach Out America (ROA) monthly meeting at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, 48 Shelter Rock Rd. in Manhasset on Wednesday, April 13, at 2 p.m.

Ryan is taking time from his busy schedule to address the group regarding his new position, what he will bring to it and his thoughts about its future.

Professionally, Ryan is a vice presi-dent of investments and a certified long-term care specialist. He has been in the financial-services industry for more than 30 years and has received many prestigious awards for his financial- and estate-planning work, as well as for his grief counseling with seniors and their families.

He is past president of the Great Neck Rotary Club, president of the Great Neck Social Center, president of CLASP (Children’s Learning After School Program), founder of SAFE Long Island (a project to protect seniors) and cofounder of the Great Neck Business Circle. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock and serves on its Social Justice Committee. Ryan is a consultant for and host of Project Independence’s weekly radio program, which airs every Friday on 88.1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
