East Hills resident Roseanne Frank is a first-time author. Her debut book, Bite Size Reads, will be the subject of a book launch party to be held on Saturday, May 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Bryant Library.
Subtitled, Slightly Twisted, Deliciously Dark, Really Short Stories For People With Very Little Time Or Very Short Attention Spans, the book is a collection of 23 short stories of murder, revenge, time travel, and creepy things, each with a dash of irony and a sprinkling of humor.
“What I like about this collection is that the stories are grouped by an average read time,” Frank said. “Sometimes we choose what to read depending on how much time we have. So if you are waiting for your coffee and you have two minutes, you go to the less than 4 minutes section. Then there are stories between 5 and 10 minutes and the last section has stories that vary in length and are different in theme.”
Bite Size Reads, the author claims, turns reading short fiction on its head—all in 15 minutes or less.
Roseanne Frank has a deep-rooted connection with the library. Besides immersing her children in library culture early on, she was a member of Friends of Bryant Library for six years, first as a director and then as programming director, where she organized many family activities.
“When I decided to debut my first book, it was without question where I wanted that special event to take place,” she said. “The library has always been welcoming and a second home for me.”
The Bryant Library is at 2 Paper Mill Rd., Roslyn. Refreshments will be served. The book is now available on Amazon and other retailers in print and e-book.
