Senator Charles Schumer was joined by North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth at North Hempstead Town Dock as they called on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to allocate federal funds in order to implement the “Nitrogen-Reduction Strategy” for the Long Island Sound. This strategy, outlined by the EPA, plans to reduce low-oxygen zones within the Long Island Sound, but cannot move forward without federal funds. Supervisor Bosworth and Senator Schumer were joined by Adrienne Esposito of Citizens Campaign for the Environment, Tracey Brown of Save the Sound and Paul DeOrsay of Friends of the Bay.
