On April 19, the Schreiber Lady Vikings softball team hosted a clinic for the PYA Girls softball program at Lions Field. These high school players worked side-by-side with over 70 PYA players, ranging in age from 5 to 12, to help develop their softball skills.
It was a fun event for all involved. Under the direction of Coach Eric Sutz, the high school players ran different drills and competitions to teach softball skills to the various age levels including base running, pitching, catching, fielding, batting and throwing.
The clinic was a huge success and all of the girls, both players and instructors, had a great time.
“It’s activities like this that really draw interest to our softball program and keeps the players coming back year after year,” said PYA Softball Commissioner Glenn Skolnick.
The event ended with giveaways and raffle prizes for the kids, including some lucky players who won softballs autographed by the Lady Vikings.
PYA Program Director Brandon Kurz thanked the participants and especially the high school players and their coaches for dedicating their time to a great event as he noted, “This is the eighth time the event has taken place and it gets better every year.”
