League of Women Voters Meeting
“Understanding the Supreme Court” is the topic of discussion at the meeting of The League of Women Voters of East Nassau. James Coll, adjunct professor of American and Constitutional History at Nassau Community College, is the guest speaker. He will address the impact of the Supreme Court’s only having eight justices, and other current issues. Q&A will follow. American Legion Post 1711 Meeting
The American Legion Post 1711 bi-monthly meeting will be replaced by annual elections. The election of the American Legion post 1711 officers for the 2016-17 year will be held at the regular meeting on Friday, May 20. Plan to attend since the officers you select will be running the American Legion post 1711 for the next year. No one will be allowed in without a valid 2016 membership card.

What’s In Your Attic?
Come to an Antique Appraisal Night at the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church, located at 1845 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh. Marion Rizzo, the appraiser, will give a short talk about antiques at the beginning of the evening. The event will be held in the Parish Hall from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is $20 per person, which includes appraisal for up to three items, or $35 per couple, which includes appraisal for up to six items. Adopt a Pet
The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is hosting a multi-group, multi-vendor event with live music, WBLI radio present, raffle items and some gorgeous high end baskets for silent auction as well. Adoption fees on all dogs and cats will be waived and low cost rabies vaccines and microchipping will also be offered. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter at 3320 Beltagh Ave., Wantagh.

Free Rabies Clinic
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Last Hope Animal Rescue will be holding a free rabies vaccine clinic for dogs and cats at the Last Hope Adoption Center, 3300 Beltagh Ave., Wantagh. All Long Island pet owners are eligible. No appointment is necessary, but all pets must be at least 4-months-old. Dogs must be leashed, and cats need to be in carriers. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s 2016 Great Strides Walks

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Nassau County Firemen’s Association will be hosting an Italian bingo dinner fundraiser. Bingo will held at Domenico’s Restaurant, 3270A Hempstead Tpke., in Levittown.
