Little Shop Of Horrors auditions being held
The St. Gregory Theatre Group is holding auditions for Little Shop Of Horrors. According to director Kathy Rollo Ferrara, and musical director Jon Riss, auditions will be held on Monday, May 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. and May 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Oak Room at St. Gregory’s located at 242-20 88th Ave. in Bellerose.
To audition, bring piano music and be prepared to sing between 16 and 32 bars of an up-tempo song, preferably in the style of Little Shop (50s/60s rock, r&b, doo-wop), read from the script and learn and perform a brief dance/movement routine. It would also be good to be familiar with one of the up-tempo songs from Little Shop in case you are requested to perform another piece. The directors prefer to hear people sing with piano accompaniment and request that people not audition a cappella or with recorded music.
Performance dates and times are Aug. 4-14. Musical rehearsals will begin mid-June based on actor and musical director availability. Character work, table readings and off-stage rehearsals will begin the last two weeks of June and will be scheduled based on actor availability. Tech week begins July 31.

Ensemble
The producers are looking for a small ensemble of strong singers/actors to appear in two, or perhaps, three numbers in the show to boost the vocal and visual impact of the production. The minor roles of Customer, Radio Announcer, Mr. Bernsetin, Mrs. Luce, Skip Snip and Patrick Martin are usually all played by the actor playing Orin but it is possible that some of these roles may be allocated to the ensemble. At initial auditions, actors may or may not read these various parts.
