Lady Dragons Prepare For Playoffs

Softball_051816AOn Monday May 2, the Division Avenue Girls’ Varsity Softball Team beat Bethpage 10-4 to qualify for at least a sixth seed in the upcoming Nassau County Playoffs. Kara Haga pitched a complete game and hit a two-run home run to lead the Dragons.

Freshmen Dani Roselli and Haley Giles were outstanding for the Dragons. Roselli powered the offense at the plate with three home runs and seven runs batted in.

Roselli also had a solo home run, a two-run shot and a grand slam, to put her in the top 10 of home run hitters in Nassau County. Giles also contributed by going 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a run scored.

This is the second victory of the season over Bethpage. In the first meeting, the Blue Dragons prevailed 2-0. Roselli hit a solo home run that proved to be the game winning run, while the excellent base running of Kalyn Sotomayor and the timely hitting of Aryana Caputo gave Division a much needed insurance run. Justine Jean threw a complete game shutout and struck out 16 batters.

The Blue Dragons will open the playoffs at home on May 11.
