The Memorial Day Fireworks and Commemoration Ceremony, sponsored by NEFCU, will be held at North Hempstead Beach Park on Saturday, May 28.
Members of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County will lead the pledge, followed by musical entertainment from Unforgettable Fire, a U2 tribute band, and FiveStone, which will play popular songs from the ’80s.
Attendees can enjoy the start of summer at scenic North Hemp-stead Beach Park, which has a board-walk along the water and picnic areas.
“Our Memorial Day Fireworks Ceremony is always a wonderful way to kick off the summer,” said Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “By recognizing our veterans we have the opportunity to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our freedom.”
The program will start at 6 p.m. and fireworks will begin when it’s dark. The event is free, but vehicles will be charged a $10 parking fee. For more information, visit www.northhempsteadny.gov or call 311 or 516-869-6311.
