Knit and Crochet
Come to the Plainedge Pub lic Library and join Angie Gallo as she guides you through the steps of learning how to knit or crochet. You can bring your own project or choose from the many instruction books available. Please bring knitting worsted weight yarn and a #9 needle for knitting or a H or I hook for crocheting. Fee is $5 cash or check made to Plainedge Public Library. Must register. From 1 to 3 p.m. in the community room. Dates are as follows: 6/1, 6/8, 6/15.

Safe Boating for All Ages
Join Ron Stehn for this free, six-week class that qualifies you for your safe boating certificate, which is required for operation of a personal watercraft. Only one absence permitted. Movie: Creed
The Bar Harbour auditorium will show a 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. screening of the movie Creed. Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan), son of deceased world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, has boxing in his blood. Looking to win his own title, Adonis heads to Philadelphia and convinces his father’s rival turned friend Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), to train him even as Rocky battles his own deadly opponent outside the ring. Now Adonis has a shot but first he must develop the heart of a true fighter in this new chapter of the Rocky story. (2015; PG-13, 2 hrs 15 mins). Starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan.

The fourth annual Massapequa Chamber of Commerce street fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. A wonderful event for the entire family, come enjoy music, entertainment, kids’ activities (including pony rides and inflatable rides), delicious food, a wide array of craft and business vendors and more. Caregiver Support Program
Join for an informational lecture for both caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia and volunteers looking to make a difference in someone’s life. Representatives from Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands, based at Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care & Rehabilitation, will discuss this free service and volunteer opportunities. The lecture will take place at the Central Avenue library at 6:30 p.m.
AARP Defensive Driving
Come get your insurance rates lowered. Fee is $20 for AARP members and $25 for nonmembers. Payment is by check or money order made out to “AARP.” Class size is limited so register at the reference desk at either library location. Class is from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bar Harbour auditorium.

Bike to the Beach
On Friday, June 10, there will be a group of approximately 150 cyclists participating in the 10th annual Bike to the Beach New York benefiting Autism. Bike to the Beach is a 100-mile century ride from Manhattan to Westhampton Beach starting at 4:30 a.m. Riders will ride into Oyster Bay from Park Avenue and turn right onto Clark Street, then straight onto Front Street. Riders will then turn right onto Unqua Road and then left onto Sunrise Highway, bear right onto Old Sunrise Highway and continue straight onto Oak Street and exit Oyster Bay.
