An average teenager’s recently watched Netflix page might include Grey’s Anatomy, The Blacklist, Gossip Girl and Breaking Bad. Well, not for me. The shows I have recently watched are all on Home and Garden Television (HGTV): Flip or Flop, Love It or List It, Property Brothers and Fixer Upper.
During the 30-minute episode of Flip or Flop, Tarek and Christina El Moussa buy homes either in foreclosure, short sale or that are owned by the bank. In the beginning of the show I’m at the edge of my seat, wondering whether Tarek and Christina will be able to snag a house up for auction. My favorite part of the show is when the renovations are finished and I am able to see that their hard work paid off.
Fixer Upper and Property Brothers are two shows that turn old, less-expensive homes into the buyers’ dream homes. Jericho junior, Lindsay S. said, “The only show on my DVR is Fixer Upper because I love watching Chip and Joanna renovate the houses.” Personally, I prefer Fixer Upper to Property Brothers even though they are very similar shows.
During an episode of Love It or List It, real estate agent David Visentin tries to get the family to move out of their home and move into a home that has everything they want, while interior designer Hilary Farr renovates the clients’ home to try and get them to stay. Love It or List It is my least favorite out of the four shows. The constant bickering between Hilary and David sometimes annoys me, but since I love watching the renovations it makes the show worth watching.
Out of all the HGTV shows Flip or Flop is by far my favorite. HGTV offers other popular shows as well: House Hunters, Income Property, and Ellen’s Design Challenge.
So the next time you need a show to binge watch, turn on HGTV or watch some of my favorites on Netflix.
